Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan

What is Tai Chi Chuan?

Tai Chi Chuan is a formulated set of movements designed to control body and mind; however, it is more than a discipline for health and serenity. It is a complete system of self-defense which demonstrates the wisdom of yielding in the face of strength. It is a martial art that emphasizes sensitivity, serenity and flexibility, requiring commitment, maturity and consistency to master.

Achieving self discipline manifests as:

  • Self preservation (good health)
  • Self expression (art)
  • Self defence (martial skill)

Going back nearly two centuries, beginning in Northern China, Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan has been preserved intact with its skills having been handed down from generation to generation in the tradition of the Wu family.

Long Term Results:

These are a natural development of the short term results.

  • The quality of health, peace of mind and well being will be distinctly noticeable.
  • A happier mind/body/spirit unity will mature as you cultivate your inner potential.
  • The old muscular tension, bad habits and feelings will be replaced as you cultivate internal energy or "Chi".
  • Your use of energy will be more economical and effective, with a reserve to call on when needed.
  • The martial training can result in formidable fighting power.
  • The perspective and confidence you develop will be towards a more whole, natural and integrated human being.

Mind and body are indivisible. Control of both is essential so that they may act in harmony. When the movements have been well learned, there is a noticeable increase in one’s powers of concentration. This training teaches one to have an open mind. Since a relaxed state is absolutely necessary before you can learn the movements properly, all stress and tension must be left behind thus achieving a much more natural state of "being".
