Ombudsman presents Civil Service Excellence Awards (07/10/17)
NB 1339
Oct. 17, 2007
FREDERICTON (CNB) – In recognition of outstanding efforts to constantly provide better service to the public, by resolving complaints and bringing concerns about government oversight to the proper authorities, Ombudsman Bernard Richard awarded Civil Service Excellence Awards today.
“This is an opportunity for our office to publicly recognize three civil servants who go above and beyond the call of duty in their day-to-day tasks,” Richard said. “Each has demonstrated that they consistently strive to find ways to solve problems and provide better service to the public in response to complaints and concerns.”
The recipients of the 2007 awards are: Carmélia Savoie, recently retired from Workplace Health, Safety Compensation Commission; Lori McKinney of the River Valley Health Authority (Region 3); and Brian Mackin of the Department of Public Safety.
This is the initial year for the awards, which have been established by the Office of the Ombudsman/Child & Youth Advocate to recognize public servants for their outstanding professionalism, and for going the extra mile in providing public service.
Criteria for the nominations include: providing exceptional responsiveness and co-operation during the complaint resolution process; consistently demonstrating the values of administrative fairness and accountability; demonstrating leadership in informal problem solving and helping ensure the efficient resolution of complaints; and encouraging the application of systemic and system-wide problem solving.
“In the past three years, these three individuals have clearly demonstrated to our office that they work hard to ensure the public is being served with respect and integrity,” Richard said.
